100G OM4 Multimode Fiber Cables

OptoSpan 100G OM4 fiber optic cables provide the fastest data transfer speeds currently available. Bringing an improvement on bandwidth and maximum distance, the OM4 specification allows for a vast reliable networking environment to be established.

Available in various configurations including popular connectors such as LC, SC, and ST along with lengths ranging from 1 to 150 meters, these premium fiber patch cables are may also be altered as per customer specifications in order to meet any networking requirements.

Due to OM4 fibers specifications, it is most commonly used to add a layer of future-proofing to fiber optic networks. While OM3 may be able to achieve comparable transfer speeds, the OM4 standard surpasses the distance achievable as well as more than doubling the available bandwidth allowing for a greater amount of data to be transferred simultaneously. See OM4 fiber key advantages.  Other OptoSpan Fiber Patch Cables include 10G OM3 Multimode Fiber Patch Cables, OM2 Multimode Fiber Patch Cables, OM1 Multimode Fiber Patch Cables, 100G OS2 Single Mode Fiber Patch Cables, Plenum Fiber Optic Patch Cables, and Uniboot Fiber Optic Patch Cables.

OM3/OM4 Comparison:

OM4 fiber cables are fully backward-compatible with existing OM3 systems.  Both OM3 and OM4 fiber cables provide the same performance with 50/125 fiber core; however OM4 operates at higher bandwidth of 4700 MHz compared to OM3 at 2500 MHz bandwidth.  The OM4 fiber internal composition distributes less dispersion and better attenuation, which drives OM4 for longer distances.  Knowing the fiber run length is important in determining which fiber is needed.

So why OM4 over OM3?

OM4 fiber cabling is suitable for 40Gb and 100Gb networks and delivers investment protection by proactively future-proofing network cabling infrastructure.  Prior to the introduction of OM4 fiber, 40Gb and 100Gb applications relied on costly single-mode OS2 fiber network solutions.  The new optimized construction of LOMMF OM4 fiber delivers the performance needed to drive minimum distances of 125 meters over 40Gb and 100Gb multimode networks.  Another inherent benefit of OM4 fiber is to compensate for insertion loss of older fiber connectors and cabling elsewhere in the networks which degrade over time.
