Multi-Fiber OM4 50/125 Bulk Fiber Spool Laser Optimized Multimode Fiber (LOMMF)

Multimode OM4 fiber on a spool featuring 50/125 micron fiber core/cladding diameter is available in multi-fiber strands (6, 12, 24, 48, 72, 96 and 144) in a standard protective jacket.  Offered in PVC/Riser (OFNR) or Plenum (OFNP) rated insulation.  Multimode OM4 50/125 LOMMF fiber cables are optimized for 40Gb and 100Gb network links.  OM4 fiber is fully backward-compatible with existing OM3 systems but provides added benefits over OM3 fiber.  See OM4 fiber key advantages.

Bulk Fiber

Multi-Fiber OM3 50/125 Bulk Fiber Spool Laser Optimized Multimode Fiber (LOMMF)

OptoSpan OM3 50/125 multimode 10Gb fiber on a spool is an optimal choice for innovative network engineers upgrading to higher speed networks.  Available in a standard protective jacket with PVC/Riser (OFNR) or Plenum (OFNP) rated insulation.

OM2 Bulk Fiber

Multi-Fiber OM2 50/125 Multimode Bulk Fiber Spool

Ideal for 1Gb and 4Gb reliable networks, 50/125 µm multimode OM2 bulk fiber spool widely supports applications ranging from Ethernet to gigabit Ethernet. OptoSpan bulk fiber spools available in a standard protective jacket with PVC/Riser (OFNR) or Plenum (OFNP) rated insulation.

OM2 Bulk Fiber

Multi-Fiber OM1 62.5/125 Multimode Bulk Fiber Spool

OM1 multimode bulk fiber spool with its relatively larger 62.5/125 micron fiber core/cladding diameter is designed for light to medium duty indoor applications such as data-center racks and desktop/network connections.  62.5/125 OM1 multimode optical fiber is typical for older 1Gb to 4Gb fiber networks.

Single-Mode Bulk Fiber

Multi-Fiber OS2 9/125 Single-Mode Bulk Fiber Spool

OptoSpan single-mode OS2 optical fiber, carrying higher bandwidth through its relatively narrow 9/125 micron core as compared to the multimode fiber, transmits the highest transmission speeds of any fiber type.  An ideal choice for custom length single-mode fiber patch cables.  OptoSpan single mode 9/125 yellow fiber is available in a standard protective jacket with PVC (Riser) rated insulation.

Bulk Fiber

Multi-Fiber SteelPatch Armored Bulk Fiber Spool

OptoSpan SteelPatch Armored multi fiber single-mode and multimode bulk fiber on spool is armored with a protective jacket to protect the fiber and is 10 times stronger than the conventional fiber. Designed for light to medium duty indoor/outdoor applications.  Various lengths and configurations available to field terminate into custom fiber optic cables.

Additional Features/Applications:

OptoSpan multi-strand bulk fiber spools are UL & RoHS compliant, come with a limited lifetime warranty, and are offered in Plenum (OFNP) rated, or Riser (OFNR)/ PVC rated insulation.

OM3/OM4 Comparison:

OM4 fiber cables are fully backward-compatible with existing OM3 systems.  Both OM3 and OM4 fiber cables provide the same performance with 50/125 fiber core; however OM4 operates at higher bandwidth of 4700 MHz compared to OM3 at 2500 MHz bandwidth.  The OM4 fiber internal composition distributes less dispersion and better attenuation, which drives OM4 for longer distances.  Knowing the fiber run length is important in determining which fiber is needed.

So why OM4 over OM3?

OM4 fiber cabling is suitable for 40Gb and 100Gb networks and delivers investment protection by proactively future-proofing network cabling infrastructure.  Prior to the introduction of OM4 fiber, 40Gb and 100Gb applications relied on costly single-mode OS2 fiber network solutions.  The new optimized construction of LOMMF OM4 fiber delivers the performance needed to drive minimum distances of 125 meters over 40Gb and 100Gb multimode networks.  Another inherent benefit of OM4 fiber is to compensate for insertion loss of older fiber connectors and cabling elsewhere in the networks which degrade over time.
