Plenum MTP Elite® Fiber Cables

MTP Fiber Cables

When designing complex fiber optic networks, often multi-fiber cables are utilized in order to minimize cost and maximize efficiency. While the MPO connector has long been the optimal choice when running multi-fiber installations, OptoSpan has opted to incorporate the higher performing variant known as the MTP Elite® connector designed by U.S. Conec. The MTP Elite® fiber cable connector is an improved MPO connector, introducing mechanical redesigns in order to maintain a secure physical connection with devices and strict manufacturing tolerances in order to surpass the standard MTP® connector by reducing the amount of signal loss.

The standard MTP® fiber cable design has improved the original MPO fiber cable in areas including the floating ferrule in order to maintain a secure connection, rounded metal pins to prevent damage to mating adapters, internal recessed metal pin clamp to prevent pin breakage, and an oval shaped internal spring to avoid fiber damage. The MTP Elite® fiber cable maintains stricter tolerances in the manufacturing process, allowing for even less signal loss when mating physical devices or cables, while remaining completely compatible with MPO and standard MTP® connectors and networking devices.

The Plenum line of MTP Elite® fiber cables is intended to meet certain building regulations for fire resistant cabling. Best installed in areas which may not be suitable for standard fiber optic cables such as the inner walls or ceilings of a building, the Plenum material is fire-retardant and allows for less smoke to be produced in the unfortunate case of a fire. In cases which fiber cabling need only be installed along outer floors or outside of buildings, standard riser jackets or armored jackets may be a more appropriate solution.

The requirements of each and every customer varies depending on the service being provided. In order to accommodate these unique specifications, OptoSpan maintains experienced technicians on staff ready to work closely with customers in order to ensure the equipment provided performs as expected. In addition, every fiber cable assembly listed may be altered in accordance to a customer’s specific needs which may include but are not limited to polarity, key orientations, or length of fiber assembly.

In addition to the previously mentioned technical improvements, OptoSpan is committed to using the complete MTP Elite® fiber cable assembly. While some competitors have opted to unethically deliver only the MTP® connector housing and replace the critical component, the floating ferrule, responsible for ensuring a dependable physical connection and greatly reduce signal loss. Only fully assembled and genuine MTP Elite® components sourced directly from U.S. Conec have be used in the manufacturing of each OptoSpan provided MTP Elite® fiber cable assembly.

Availability of each standard OptoSpan MTP Elite® fiber cable assembly is conveniently listed on this site.
